Job Description

A growing real estate investment and property management company is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join its accounting team. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day accounting operations, and ensuring the timely processing of transactions across a diverse real estate portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and maintain daily financial transactions for multiple properties and entities
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and operating accounts
  • Assist with tenant billing, rent collections, and security deposit tracking
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting documentation
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and account reconciliations
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Coordinate with property managers regarding expenses, vendor payments, and tenant account inquiries
  • Assist with audit requests and documentation preparation
  • Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Experience working within the real estate, property management, construction, or related industry preferred
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Yardi, AppFolio, Sage, or similar accounting software
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles and account reconciliations
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Experience

  • Multi-entity accounting experience
  • Exposure to commercial and/or residential property accounting
  • Familiarity with CAM reconciliations, rent rolls, and tenant ledgers
  • Understanding of real estate financial reporting practices
